2. Personal data

Personal data is any information that can directly or indirectly identify an individual, such as names or addresses. In the situations described here, your data may be automatically collected, processed, and stored:

2a. Web server log files

This data is automatically collected by our web servers when you visit our website:

  • the IP address from which you access our pages
  • Date and time of retrieval
  • visited websites
  • Amount of data transferred (number of bytes)
  • the page from which the viewed webpage was requested
  • a description of the web browser used

The web servers only store the last two data sets if they are transmitted unsolicited by your browser program.

We cannot associate this data with individual persons. This data is not combined with information from other data sources. This log data is used exclusively for the technical monitoring of server operation and, if necessary, for troubleshooting, and is subsequently deleted. It is not analyzed or shared with third parties unless legally required to do so.

2b. Cookies

Cookies are small text files that our web server places on your computer via your web browser. They are necessary for displaying the web pages and temporarily store data that the web server needs, for example, if you want to register online for a training session or make a reservation.

If you do not wish to allow cookies, all common browser programs offer corresponding settings for blocking and deleting cookies. However, if you block cookies from our website, not all functions will be available.

2d. CleverReach

CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG conducts surveys on our behalf regarding the use of our newsletters, such as whether, when, and how often our newsletter and specific content are read, on which devices, and with which software. While this information can technically be associated with recipients, it is neither our intention nor CleverReach's to monitor individual users. Rather, the analyses help us understand reading habits and adapt our content accordingly, sending different content based on individual interests. CleverReach also compiles statistics on newsletter subscriptions and unsubscriptions, as well as information on expired email addresses. 3. Making contact

You contact us in a variety of ways. You use contact forms on our website, call us, request quotes, ask for appointments, reserve or book places in training courses, subscribe to newsletters, ask for technical support, and so on. In all cases, you transmit personal data to us.

3a. Contact form

The contact details you provide will be transmitted to us by our web servers in the form of an email. This will be stored as required for business email communication and archived for the legally required period.

3b. Newsletter

Registration typically uses a double opt-in process, where, after submitting the online registration form with your contact details, you will receive an email to actively confirm your registration. This prevents misuse of email addresses. All newsletter registrations are logged to provide proof in accordance with legal requirements (registration/confirmation time, IP address(es) used). Other registration options are also available.

Our newsletter is sent on our behalf via the German provider CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Mühlenstraße 43, 26180 Rastede. The email addresses of our newsletter recipients, as well as other data described in this paragraph, are stored in CleverReach data centers exclusively within the European Economic Area. CleverReach uses this data only for sending and analyzing the newsletter.

We supplement the information stored with CleverReach (name, email address, company) with additional data, such as your areas of interest. We use this data exclusively to tailor the newsletter content to your interests.

3c. Request for quotation, reservation, order, order processing

The contact details you provide will be transmitted to us by our web servers in the form of an email. This will be stored – as required in business email communication – and archived for the legally required period.

4. Purposes and legal bases for the processing of personal data

As part of our service offering, we process your personal data to provide customer-oriented services. We process your data for the purposes listed below, based on the specific legal grounds indicated:

For some processing purposes, we require your consent, which we will obtain from you separately at the relevant point. In these cases, your data is processed on the legal basis of Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. This is the case, for example, when we request your consent during an event to provide specific services. If you register for a free training event, such as a free webinar, data processing may involve sharing your contact details with the cooperation partner(s) listed in the booking form, also based on your consent. Information on further processing by our cooperation partners can be found in the relevant consent declaration in the booking form and in the respective cooperation partner's privacy policy.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. Information on this can be found in the section "Your Rights".

If a contract is concluded between you and us, we process your data to fulfill this contract on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. This is necessary in particular for the following purposes:

  • Registration for a training/further education event. In this case, we process your personal data to support and assist participants in the planning, registration, participation and follow-up of the further education event, and to provide you with all necessary and useful information.
  • Sharing your data with cooperation partners when using free services is based on the business practice to which you have agreed in the terms and conditions.
  • Processing and invoicing of your paid registration for the training event.

In cases other than those mentioned above, the processing is based on the necessity to protect our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR, in particular to offer customer-oriented services and to advertise similar products from our product portfolio. In these cases, processing is carried out for the following purposes:

  • Tailoring our offerings to your needs
  • Contact for event advertising
  • Advertising via email and newsletter to promote similar services, if we have received your email address from you in connection with booking a paid or free service (see Section 7 Paragraph 3 of the Act Against Unfair Competition (UWG))
  • Ensuring the security of our own IT systems and optimizing the functionality of our websites by logging technical usage data in log files.

If processing is based on our legitimate interests, you generally have the right to object to this processing (see section Your Rights). However, you do not have the right to object to the collection of technical usage data for the provision of our websites and the storage of this data in log files for the purposes listed in this section.

5. Type of data

In principle, we only request, process and store personal data that is useful for fulfilling your request or necessary for fulfilling the order:

  • Names, first names, titles, email addresses, also of contact persons in your company
  • Name and address of the company on whose behalf you are contacting us,
    Department name and job position (if applicable)
  • Telephone and fax numbers within the company
  • attended further training events

6. Storage location

We typically process and store all personal data in-house. Only in exceptional cases do we transfer personal data to third parties, specifically to:

  • public bodies due to legal requirements
  • Data processors within the meaning of Article 28 GDPR in the context of our orders

7. Disclosure of personal data

Personal data will not be transferred – for any purpose whatsoever – to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.

8. Security of data transmission and storage

Please note that data transmission over the internet can have security vulnerabilities – even though our website uses SSL encryption, as you can see from the address with "https:" and the padlock symbol. We also use SSL encryption and current encryption methods for transmitting your data via email. Nevertheless, we recommend additional encryption or sending sensitive information by postal mail.

To protect the personal data we store against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorized persons, we use technical and organizational security measures that are continuously reviewed and improved in accordance with the state of the art.

The hardware and software systems we use can only be accessed with authorization. Within the applications, user rights are further restricted according to area of responsibility and business needs via appropriate authorization systems.

9. Duration of storage of personal data

We only store personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfill your requests and orders to us, or as required by legally prescribed retention periods.

10. What rights do you have regarding your data?

Articles 15 to 21 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) give you extensive rights:

  • Right to information
  • Right to rectification
  • Right to erasure, unless the legislator prescribes specific retention periods.

  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing

Special instructions for using our newsletters

The following information explains the content of our newsletter, the registration, distribution, and statistical analysis procedures, as well as your rights to object. By subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to receive it and to the procedures described here.

Content of our newsletters

MicroConsult Academy sends out newsletters, emails, and other electronic notifications several times a year containing technical and promotional information. Generally, our newsletters cover topics related to embedded systems engineering, including references to relevant technical information, training courses, and other services.

Secure registration via the online newsletter form, Double opt-in and logging

CleverReach's data centers ensure compliance with data protection regulations through a TÜV-certified information security management system. They are certified according to DIN ISO/IEC 27001 and confirmed as a Level 1 service provider for the credit card industry's Data Security Standard (DSS/PCI).
