Wonder beyond logic

Inheritances are a wonderful thing, at least most of the time. We software developers, however, utilize a truly extraordinary inheritance for our work: the brain. Modern neurology and psychology continually provide new insights into why our brains function so brilliantly, but can also become a risk factor.

Most software developers don't know enough about the tool between their ears to make the most of it. This leads to a situation where, despite numerous tools with all sorts of click-and-click technology and impressive process models, software projects don't always deliver the desired results.

The importance of brain-friendly, and therefore human-centered, tools, methods, processes, and especially emotional and interpersonal factors is often swept under the rug in the "rational" world of technology, or rather, covered up with code. This destroys a great deal of productivity, innovation, and job satisfaction. Since productivity can increase tenfold or more, it's worth investing some brainpower in these areas.

What to do? The first and most important step: Observe yourself and your colleagues. Where are the problems and glitches in the projects? Where is the most frequent potential for conflict in daily work? When does everything run particularly smoothly? Consciously look at things from a human perspective rather than a purely business or technical one! You will make many interesting discoveries, even if you are not a psychologist or neuroscientist.

You will become more aware of how strongly brain functions that have nothing to do with analytical, fact-driven thinking determine your work: emotions and intuition.

Find ways to unlock the untapped treasures of our heritage, but also to identify and avoid risks. We are happy to help you with this!

Try it! You'll be amazed at what there is to discover beyond hardware, software, and logic.
