In December 2023, the Sindelfingen town hall once again opened its doors for the annual Embedded Software Engineering Congress (ESE Congress). With nearly 1,200 participants, including a large number of young software developers, the congress once again demonstrated its importance as a leading industry event in the world of embedded software.
For five days, the varied program offered a mix of compact seminars, lectures, keynotes and high-quality discussions, enabling an intensive exchange of knowledge.
The free pre-conference, which took place as a live stream on December 1st, has become a popular kick-off event for the congress and serves as an appetizing preview of the coming days. Participants gained insights into current software topics as well as specific tools and solutions from the exhibitors.
This year's trending topics at the ESE Congress reflected the current challenges facing the industry, with artificial intelligence and, in particular, the ever-growing issue of security taking center stage. Discussions during breaks often revolved around topics such as the Cyber Resilience Act, software-defined vehicles, and the data deluge of generative AI.
In addition to professional exchange, the ESE Congress also offered opportunities for entertainment. Traditional events such as the foosball tournament on Tuesday and the evening event on Wednesday – this time with Maxi Gstettenbauer and his show "Gute Zeit" – ensured a successful mix of work and pleasure.
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with particular praise for the quality of the lectures and seminars. The ESE team places great importance on participant feedback to continuously improve the event's quality. Exhibitors awarded an overall score of 1.73, while visitors gave the event an impressive rating of 1.58.
As always, a particular highlight was the award ceremony for the best speakers of the previous year, who will be honored with the coveted Best Speaker Awards at ESE 2024. This recognition reflects the passion and dedication of the speakers to their presentations.
Overall, the ESE Congress 2023 remains a standout event for the embedded software community. As Germany's leading congress for the industry, it has once again demonstrated that it is not only a platform for knowledge exchange and innovation, but also a place for dedicated networking and inspiring professional development. We are already looking forward to the ESE Congress 2024 and the next round of groundbreaking insights and technologies.
