{"id":8732,"date":"2025-11-30T22:20:01","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T21:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web-dev-weissblau.de\/microconsult\/?p=8732"},"modified":"2026-02-10T09:05:05","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T08:05:05","slug":"embedded-c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.microconsult.de\/en\/embedded-c\/","title":{"rendered":"Embedded-C"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Embedded-C is the C programming language used in the implementation of software for an embedded system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>What is an embedded system?<\/h2>\n<p>A\u00a0<a title=\"Wikipedia: Embedded systems\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eingebettetes_System\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Embedded system<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0An embedded system is a functional unit with its own processing core, which is &quot;embedded&quot; within the system and not externally identifiable as such. The embedded system is controlled by a program written in an embedded programming language. Suitable programming languages include, for example, Embedded C or Embedded C++.<\/p>\n<p>The implementation of software is the final stage of the development process.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Embedded-C: Development path for an embedded system\" src=\"https:\/\/www.microconsult.de\/index.php?tinymceimg=embedded-programmentwicklung_bild2.jpg\" alt=\"Embedded-C: Development path for an embedded system\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Figure 1: Development path for an embedded system<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>First, in the analysis phase, it is necessary to analyze and specify WHAT is to be developed (requirements \u2013 software analysis) and in the design phase, HOW it is to be developed (implementation \u2013 analysis and design).<\/p>\n<p>These two phases are carried out in modern projects with the support of UML (Unified Modeling Language) or another graphical tool. The more thorough the analysis and design, the easier the software implementation will be. UML is particularly useful for documenting and visualizing the processes and dependencies within the system.<\/p>\n<h2>The project development process and its sub-processes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Project Management<\/li>\n<li>Quality management<\/li>\n<li>Software development process<\/li>\n<li>Software testing process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is the difference between ANSI-C and Embedded-C?<\/h2>\n<p>ANSI-C is used for desktop programming. The resulting programs can be executed in PC memory via the PC operating system.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Wikipedia: Embedded C programming language\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Embedded_C%2B%2B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Embedded-C<\/a>\u00a0based on the elements of\u00a0<a title=\"Wikipedia: Programming language C, ANSI-C\" href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/C_%28Programmiersprache%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANSI-C<\/a>, with microcontroller-specific extensions that allow the use of specific microcontroller resources (such as ROM\/Flash, SRAM, peripherals, and I\/Os).
